Yes. The dessaparition of DeNiro's character is one of Lowry's (or Gilliam's) last fantasies of some decency, boldness and resistance. The paper is The Burocracy; its numbered, abundant, tedious forms, symbolizes one more of its hidden, or brutaly open, formulated diversions to apart men and women from a real, more compassive human path.
