BTW, I'm not sure where you reside, but there is an excellent Warhol exhibit going on in Columbus Ohio right now. It came from Germany and it's only other stops are Paris, London, Stokholm, and Amsterdam. They say it would take a week to view all the films they have of his! Lupe aussi possiblment?

I'm sorry, I should have said "one of the" first performance artists in the states... I think we're getting a little too literal here. You should read the conversation pertaining to that comment. Besides, if you have to go all the way to Germany to give me another example, then I consider my point proven.

Whoa, wait! First performance artist?! Really?! Someone has some research to do. Hit the books, and maybe check out some of those wacky German artists for starters.

Possibly ebay. Lupe has almost no commercial value because most of its soundtrack was destroyed. Some You Tube video has the head-on-toilet final shot and others with that pastel blue gown are from Lupe.

Ingrid and Nico in my book are a vast improvement to Edie's all american girl facade.

and also, i do not mean to sound as if i hate Nico. Far from it. I understand her role and respect it. However, I think it would be fair to note that Nico was also a heroin addict for over 15 years, and died of a cerebral hemorrhage that they suspect is related.

finally a comment by someone who is well read and knows what they are talking about! you know, nico in this film replaces shots they took of edie. do you know where to view Lupe? I have never seen it, but have read about what you're talking about. Have you ever read Edie, American Girl? the interesting part is it's written in all interviews.

the discussion was not about how edie is remembered. that's objective and irrelevant. i was simply reacting to the comment you made about edie having no talent. it was just a reaction to that false statement. being an artist myself, me and most of my local contemporaries consider her the first performance artist... tho junkie party girl is a close second.
poeticjournalism (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
oh yes because edie is totally remembered for her art. look, I don't hate edie, but are you really trying to kid yourself by saying she won't be remembered as anything other than a party girl from the warhol days?

talent? you know nothing about edie then, she went to art school because she had AMAZING drawing abilities... do some research before you say stupid shit. and i personally am not the biggest fan of Nico's voice. It's not a good singing voice at all... that's why Andy liked it!
