You *can* install Linux programs on the Linux version, but this is tricky, and unless you know the command line I wouldn't suggest doing it. (although there are some guides on the net).With 4 gigs of space (on some models 8) you can install XP with SP2 (but with 4 gigs space not SP3, with 8 you can). However you will run out of space *very* quickly if you're not careful, so if you do install XP you should delete or at least reduce the size of the pagefile (again, look at the net).

oh ok...i have some questions cuz im intersted inbuying one...because its solid state...can it still run xp....and can u install linux programs inthe linux?

it does not play MTS files. anything that's recorded in AVCHD format would not play on this pc

you have to pay a couple of dozen bucks extra for Windows, although I highly suggest sticking with the Linux version.

everything except your DRM'ed media. (if you don't know what DRM is, its basically crippleware added to your files so that they only play on one program, like iTunes music [although iTunes is gradually moving away from DRM, since Apple says that DRM just doesn't work.])
