My comment was meant to be somewhat rhetorical and to reflect the current state of politics in the US

he is an ex congressman not senator and he has a job- Today Leach teaches at Princeton and serves on the board of several public companies and four non-profit organizations -- the Century Foundation, the Kettering Foundation and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and formerly served as a trustee of Princeton University.

Thomas Jefferson a democrat? That's a very skewed statement . In comparison to the Federalists Jefferson was a republican but we're talking about a different political landscape. By the way how do you get a democrat out of someone who called him self jefferson republican? And yes I know about the Democratic-Republican Party.

Although a dry one, this was one of the most substantive speeches in recent times, bringing together both parties' accomplishments in the past and being completely bipartisan. It's a shame that major reliable news stations did not play it, such as msnbc & cnn. (I wouldn't expect to see it on fox news, being that the speech was way too intelligent for their viewers to understand).

Wish the crowd made him feel more welcomed though.

This guy is no publicity hunting yahoo. He is very serious and genuine. A sound and thoughtful endorsement.

lol, lets hope not. But, you're right that is cynical.

At the risk of sounding cynical he is an X senator looking for a job perhaps?

One of the TOP presentations of the night. Jim Leach speaks to people who have not already made up their minds, rationally, clearly, succinctly, and persuasively. This may not be to the liking of some of Obama's more avid supporters, but Jim Leach did them a great service last night.

best speech at the convention no doubt
