HZ1975------u know that THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY and others n the state of OHIO have always used that chant while using their arms to make the letters spelling O.H.I.Oi dont know when nor where it was first used though..that explains y the great OHIO PLAYERS were singing O.H.I.O n 1975 & 1976 before releasing their own version of the chant n song on the "ANGEL" album/lp.

Funk will never die. If it wasn't for Funk we wouldn't have many of the great bassists we have today, or groove king drummers for that matter.

The state of Ohio was a seriously fertile ground for funk bands... Slave, Sun, Lakeside, Faze-O, Dayton, the great Bootsy Collins, The Isley Brothers...I know that the Isley Brothers started off as a gospel influenced R&B group but they made some great funk to complement their timeless ballads during their 3+3 stage.
